SHED: The Method, is a new mind/body practice developed by Jane Kersel and osteopath Tim Goullet, that brings together over 40 years of combined training and expertise in the field of movement and consciousness work.
Simplify - life's complicated enough - no machines - no props - just you and your body connecting and loving it
Heal - re-balance, re-focus, re-energise, re-form. do it for you - do it for innocent kids stuck in war torn countries - a portion of your class fee goes direct to www.warchild.com
Empower - become mentally and physically fitter - calm and master your thoughts and understand more about your body
Detoxify - shed your "stuff" stop carrying excess weight, fluids, fear, anxiety, resistance, negative mind talk, bodily / environmental toxins
SHED is the first of a series of 3 progressive practices: that grows as the individual develops on a tangible basis, with differing levels and options throughout the practice and the series. The Practice uses a mix of a total of 8 static/dynamic forms that also work as a home/travel practice and . There is a greater element of cardio/aerobic work within the practice which helps to strengthen and work the heart and lungs. The practice is underpinned with the SHED Breath and movement is linked to this, whilst Ancient Eastern cleansing breath techniques are used at key points of the practice, as are focus/meditation disciplines, all of which create a harmony of deepening inward emphasis. The practice culminates in a part-led relaxation that helps a student drop down into a profound space of peace and spaciousness.
The practices themselves are at times challenging and above all fun and are based on developmental patterns of human beings and our relatives from the animal kingdom over the course of evolutionary time. A key value to the creation of SHED is that the practices must be enjoyable and fun - "Life is serious enough, so our practices need to lift us to something higher and have juice and a heartful of soul - when something is made from that energy - it shines out with a life and light of its own, that folk just can't help but to resonate with."
