Imagination is the only weapon in the war against Reality - Lewis Caroll

Did you know that In our heavens we mostly have to relate to masculine archetypes?  Think of Jupiter God of Sky and Thunder, Saturn, Cronus the God of Time,  Mars the God of War,  etc.  There is only the Moon the lunar luminary and the planet Venus Goddess of Love which relate to the feminine archetypes.  This may not be a big deal on a rational level, but symbolically and more importantly in our subconscious it amplifies how hard it is to find and build our feminine psyche and why myself and so many of my clients feel they have to justify and explain themselves to the masculine. It's as if we have to come out of ourselves to try to understand how these masculine energies relate to us.  It's the same with the world's view of all the religions in the world having a patriarchal figurehead.  It reenforces  the feminine  to continually have to match up, prove, go the extra mile - it's exhausting, time wasting and frankly dull as ditch water to prolong.

What is exciting at this new light of the Vernal Equinox is that we are being offered up a whole new way of showing up in the world with the feminine leading all the way.  Not only is Venus in Taurus (her natural resting place) asking us to soften, get into our most sensuous, to love the earth, to tend to the inner hearth and deepen our commitment to our hearts, but she's pressing against the North Node (asking the whole world as our collective destiny to step out of individual love into universal love, to end wars and conflict and small over-mentalised thinking).

There's going to be fire in our bellies as well as six planets sit in Aries: The Sun, a new Moon, Neptune, Mercury, Chiron and Jupiter. This is a time to step into a a new healing of  the feminine In ourselves: to heal her, release the old scripts and communicate from a new framework because whatever you are focusing on Jupitarian energy will for sure amplify.  It's an impulsive time where things can get trigger happy if we aren't grounded deep in the feminine.  Mars is square to Neptune which on a wold level could mean war at seas or certainly conflict there, or high storms, severe weather patterns. Things are certainly getting shaken up and we are being made to listen.

For the Vernal Equinox this week here's a beautiful healing and expanding ritual to do: Interestingly, way back in 2003, a dwarf planet  was found some 8 billion miles away from Earth and was named Sedna after the Inuit Goddess Sedna who is goddess of the sea. The Inuits do not believe in divinity, to them the gods and goddesses are alive and part of this world, not dead and in heaven as we tend to think of them in the Western model.  Well Sedna as an astrological aspect is back making an aspect this month in Taurus and is also here to amplify the feminine.

The ancient myth goes like this: Sedna and her father are out on the seas fleeing from her husband who had treated her poorly.  He and his friends turn themselves into giant winged birds and create a storm with massive waves to try and punish her for escaping.  Her father is so frightened that the storm will fill his kayak with water and that he will drown in the icy waters that he throws Sedna overboard. He thinks that this will get the birds to stop flapping their wings, but it does not. Sedna does not want to be left in the water, so she holds tightly to the edge of her father’s boat and will not let go. Fearing that she will tip him over, the father cuts her fingers off, one joint at a time. From each of her finger joints exquisite and beautifully different sea creatures are born. They became fish, seals, walruses, and whales.  Sedna sinks to the bottom of the ocean and  becomes a powerful spirit. Her home is now on the ocean floor. If you have seen her, you know she has the head and torso of a woman and the tail of a fish.

Journal: Where do you go with this myth?  What symbolism does it attract or repel in you?  What are you drawn to?  Where do you feel the story 'talks' to you'?  How do you interpret the symbolism with regard to your own narrative?  What does it teach you about the masculine/father/patriarch in our own men/fathers, society's, the world energetic we find ourselves in?  Now close your eyes and imagine you are Sedna - journal how it feels to let go and let the metamorphosis you feared would not be there actually takes over when you fully give yourself.  What is your subconscious inviting you to let go of?  What is your ego/intellect still clinging to?  Draw images, paint yourself as this story, doodle Sedna and on the night of the equinox March 20th 9.24pm (GMT) light candles, make an offering to Sedna (use salt water to cleanse yourself), and ask her to come forward to you in your dreams....make notes of what happens...feel free to email me if you get stuck or find interesting things start to happen.

The varying legends of the Sedna myth, each give different rationales for Sedna's transcendence, but in each version, her father, or 'the people', take her to sea in a boat and throw her overboard. In each she clings to her old life and her fingers are chopped off before she lets go. And in each version she sinks to the bottom of the sea, becoming the sea goddess, worshipped by hunters who depend on her goodwill to supply food.

This is the time to let go of the safety of the patriarchal boat and strong protective masculine you think can save you: material stuff, intellect, control, perfectionism, overly critical ways, forced power.  Instead imagine you have finally let go of that boat and you float and become free of what you were tethered to and instead you take on the archetype of the maverick though the feminine lens: less controlled; less forced; less justifying has to be related to not talked to; break all your crayons and pencils and create with the stubby broken pieces (ie be less precise for a bit as in that chaos comes true gifts and new avenues); stop competing from ego to another's ego drop down into their vulnerability and call that; stop needing to be right and make the other therefore wrong, be grey; own your outsider and outlier-ships (which is the feminine - she is an outsider even to women) and be thankful that you don't fit the norm.   Get your pioneering spirit boots out of the cupboard, dust them down and walk a mile in her boots - by the end of this season of light you'll be so glad you did because you will learn things about yourself you never knew possible.

In the Motherpeace tarot deck, a good friend of mine,  the goddess sits atop the Tower she knows is ready to crumble. She is struck by lightning, so already her world has changed. A Solar eclipse is happening, and the people below are scared and waiting for her instructions. Sometimes illumination hits hard, throwing everything in life into confusion and chaos. But this allows a period of restructuring based on what the truth in life is now, releasing the personality from depression and being untrue to themselves.  The authentic feminine is no longer to be seen through the lens of the masculine.....

as Mae West once said:

"A woman in love can't be reasonable - or she probably wouldn't be in love."
